Field Trip Sunday

SUNDAY, October 22, St. Luke's Antiracism Ministry has designed a Field Trip Sunday for our congregation. We will NOT hold worship that morning at St. Luke's. Instead, we are encouraging each other to attend worship as small groups at other selected area congregations. The goal is for St. Luke's to grow in self-awareness about our congregational culture and practices of welcome, by intentionally visiting other congregations and learning from differences.

RSVP for Field Trip Sunday!! Each group will have a member of Antiracism Ministry assigned to communicate important information, coordinate carpool if needed, make a plan for lunch and debrief. For those who prefer to worship at our normal location, you are invited to join our partners at Grace UMC for their 9:30 a.m. worship that morning.

St. Luke's strives to be a welcoming congregation, but we are not perfect. We have things to learn. With this Field Trip Sunday, we are asking, How do other communities welcome visitors? How does it feel to be new in a church space? What does worship and community life feel like in other communities? Where can St. Luke's grow in our practices of welcome?
